"I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth" (Gen 9:13).
The covenant established by God through Noah is a covenant of grace. God is simply committing to remember His promise never to bring about such widespread destruction through a flood again. What's interesting is that both rain and sun are necessary elements for forming a rainbow. These elements symbolize God's grace. Like the warmth of the sun, we welcome God's favor upon us. However, do we also welcome the rain? We recognize its importance, but often it has the potential to disrupt our plans. Like rain, suffering operates in a similar way. We acknowledge that it is a part of life, but we must also view it as an expression of God's grace. God brings both suffering and joy, rain and sun, as part of His commitment to care for us, fulfill us, and perfect us in everlasting relationship with Him.
Have a great start to your week. Go in God's grace.
